Recently a couple of friends and I went to visit the area of Yarra Valley and stopped by the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery!
Yarra Valley is a great area to visit especially for a road trip because there are plenty of places to visit in the area. It is a beautiful place with lots of scenic areas in the country. We were so blessed to have such a beautiful sunny day when we went for a visit. Today I thought I’d blog about the experience I had at the Chocolaterie!
There is heaps of information on their website but basically this place is almost like a ‘factory’. There is a sit down cafe but they also sell an extensive range of unique products (and even a see through window to see chocolate products being produced and made on the spot )- all on a lovely piece of land with beautiful gardens to explore nearby.
Here is a link to their menu: http://www.yvci.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Cafe-Menu.pdf
Free tastings of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate circles!
The Menu! :)They have a pretty good variety of ice cream flavours. Some of their menu items also come with a side of ice cream, or ice cream in their drinks (I’m pretty sure you can choose which flavour you want as well). I chose to have ice cream by itself and chose their expresso coffee flavour! It was really creamy and yummy. It’s around $5 for one scoop and there is also the option of having it in either a cone or a cup. The only problem I had was that I think the lady used the same scoop from a different flavour (like raspberry?) because I could taste some of that NON coffee flavour which was slightly annoying for me (since I don’t really like the raspberry flavour). I tried a bit of their vanilla ice cream as well (it tasted similar to connoisseur’s version, maybe a little less sweet).
And…if you live closeby ;) There is also always the option of buying a tub and taking it home! $11.95. If you go over to the ice cream cart they will allow you to try a spoonful first to see if you like the flavour :) I would recommend doing this if you’re not sure if you’ll it or not.The outside seating area – completely packed but it’s nice and toasty (they have outside heaters). Tart served with chocolate dip and cream!
It is a really big area and I’d recommend coming to check this place out! Unfortunately you can’t have picnics, but it’s a great place to buy quirky chocolate gifts. They sell a range of different products and even teas. Or, if you’re a chocolate fanatic, I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself here!
