Hi there! Over the past few months I’ve been trying all sorts of food around the Walt Disney World property. Here’s a post on some of the things I’ve tried and what I thought of it :) All the prices exclude tax.
Location: Contemporary Resort
Dining: Contempo Cafe
Item: Spice-crusted Mahi Sandwhich (with Vegetable-style Coleslaw and Spicy Tartar Sauce on a Focaccia Roll with French Fries and Vegetable-style Coleslaw)
Thoughts: When I ordered this dish it was mainly enticed by the fact that it came with fries. Sadly majority of burgers and items on the menu don’t come with fries! You have to add it on for an additional $2.50 or so. Anyways! Mahi is a type of fish and it was extremely soft and tender. This was a really tasty fish burger with good seasoning of spices. I’d order it again.
Location: Wilderness Lodge (Resort)
Dining: Whispering Canyon
Item: Slow-smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich (on a Brioche Roll, with Barbecue Sauce, and Western Slaw with sweet potato fries and homemade beans)
Thoughts: Probably one of my favourite meals at Disney. I would highly recommend this dish! (I really enjoyed other meals I’ve had at the Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness too). I loved the sweet potato fries and the pulled pork flavours were spot on. The beans had a really smokey taste (probably similar to the sauce the pulled pork is marinated in). This is a value for money dish – incredibly filling and the experience at Whispering Canyon is quite fun too. The cast members poke fun at you and give you big quantities of things you ask for (e.g. ketchup).
Location: Magic Kingdom
Dining: Be Our Guest
Item: Croque Monsieur (Grilled Sandwich of Carved Ham and Gruyere Cheese and Bechamel with Pommes Frites)
Thoughts: To be honest although ‘Be our Guest’ is absolutely beautiful I think it’s food is overrated. I think it’s only worth going for the table service dining at for dinner (but it’s incredibly hard to make a reservation). Quick service wasn’t the best dining experience and the sandwhich wasn’t anything special. To be fair my friend ordered the ‘Carved Turkey Sandwhich’ and that did look really good so maybe it was just my croque monsieur.
Location: Hollywood Studios
Dining: Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner
Item: Clam Chowder in Bread Bowl
Thoughts: It was a good snack to quickly fill yourself up without spending too much money since a lot of entrees/snacks at Disney cost about $10 however it definitely wasn’t value. It’d be worth spending a few dollars more for a decent burger. The clam chowder wasn’t generous and only a couple cm’s thick.
Dining: Rose and Crown (England)
Item: Fish and Chips (Rose & Crown’s Signature Dish” Beer-battered and served with House-made Tartar Sauce)
Thoughts: Huge, crunchy and tasty! Rose and Crown has such a good dining environment – I really felt like I was in an English pub.
Location: Disney Springs
Dining: Earl of Sandwhich
Item: Half of the ‘Full Montagu’ (Roasted beef) and half of the ‘Chicken Chipotle Avocado’
Price: Approx $10
Thoughts: Okay so Earl of Sandwhich is DELICIOUS. It’s like the gourmet version of subway. I think anything from here is pretty delicious so just choose a sandwhich that has filling you like and I’m pretty sure you’ll be satisfied.
Location: Contemporary Resort
Dining: Contempo Cafe
Item: Meat Lover’s Flatbread
Thoughts: This was delicious! Really tasty and basically the same as a good old meat lover’s pizza. I liked the BBQ flavour and the freshness from the coleslaw topping. It was pretty big too.
Location: Art of Animation Resort
Dining: Landscape of Flavours
Item: Surf and Turf Burger (Crab Cake, Fried Popcorn Shrimp, Tomato, Lettuce, and Cajun Remoulade on a Brioche Bun with Coleslaw or House-seasoned Fries)
Thoughts: One of the most talked about burgers in Disney resort so I had to try it! It was a filling burger that’s for sure. I liked it with ketchup on the side. Personally I think I’d prefer the mahi burger from the contemporary but I think it just depends on what type of textures you like.
Location: Animal Kingdom
Dining: Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe
Item: Korean Stir-fry Barbecue Chicken (Chicken, Peppers, Onions, Pineapple, Sweet and Tangy Korean Barbecue Sauce with White Rice)
Thoughts: Sooo good, especially for someone who misses asian food dearly! It’s a very simple dish that you can probably easily diy (meat, veg + sauce) but really good combination of flavours. It’s not spicy either :)
Location: Multiple Disney Locations (carts/food stands/restaurants)
Item: Mickey Cookies and Cream Sandwhich
Thoughts: Comparing this to the Premium Mickey Icecream, the sandwhich is more filling due to the cookie base but it is difficult to eat because it’s not on a stick. It’s not that enjoyable on a super hot day because it’s just rapidly melting #florida. It’ll be a more enjoyable experience if I actually sit down and take the time to eat it, rather than rushing to finish it so I can go on a ride haha… but when you’re in Disney world who has time for that right? :P You’re constantly wanting to go and explore!
Location: BoardWalk Resort
Dining: Trattoria Al Forno
Item: ‘Choice of two eggs’ – Scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, chicken sausage and croissant
Thoughts: Loved this breakfast! Heard a few mixed things but dang these breakfast potatoes were scrumptious. I’d love just a huge bowl of the potatoes. Disney has basically every type of egg option you’d want but I chose scrambled. They weren’t seasoned so I addded salt and pepper to my liking. The chicken sausages were great and tender. The croissant was a surprise (it didn’t always come with a croissant) but it was super flavoursome!
Hope you enjoyed reading :)
