The menu at Humble Rays is filled with a huge variety of flavour packed dishes. It was so difficult to decide what to order and if I’m back in the area I’ll definitely come back to try more. We were greeted with a friendly smile and nice service throughout our meal. We also did not have to wait long for our orders despite us arriving around 10AM on a Saturday (prime time).
Three lattes // approx $4 each. Soy +.50, Skinny & Regular
I was very content with the size of their standard coffee (probably equates to a medium sized coffee) but the presentation of my soy latte was really disappointing… I don’t even have to point it out – you can see for yourself in the picture above. Not sure what happened there (even the waitress looked sheepish when she gave it to me) but the taste did make up for it. It was a deeeelicious tasting soy latte!
Egg Benny // $18.50 Ginger Braised Pork Belly, Miso & Potato Korokke, Almond & Cashews Dukkah, Yuzu Hollondaise, Chilli Bacon Jam, Parsley Crumbs. My friend ordered this dish after reading the raving reviews online. I was seriously tempted too but thought I’d try something else on the menu. Her verdict? It did have tasty flavours but one of the larger slices of pork belly was tough and overcooked. If it had been soft like her other pieces, it would have made a great meal. Crab Meat Scramble // $18.50 Crab Meat Scramble Eggs, Asian Herbs, Fried Shallot, Sriracha Mayo, Red Chilli, Chilli Oil This was amazing. I loved this dish – the flavours were terrific. I was worried it would be plain but it only took one tiny bite to change my mind. I’m not sure how they achieve it but these eggs tasted like they were brewed in some type of stock or Continue reading →
Continuing on my brunch explorations was a recent visit back to Top Paddock. To visit my old post please click here. This time I came on a weekday and to my surprise it was still as busy as ever! There was quite a big group of us so we were able to book and good thing we did otherwise I’m sure we would have had to wait a while. Service was better than the last time I came as the waiter was friendlier and overall they were more organised in regards to the time between drink orders and food orders. Top Paddock – Chorizo, pickled onion, peppers, basil, bacon, Adelaide green tomatoes, poached eggs & relish on toast // $22.00
This is literally the largest brunch meal I’ve ever seen/had. I was so full I couldn’t even finish it and I promise that rarely ever happens to me. Top Paddock is defs value for money and it was delicious too. My friend ordered this last time and just from photo comparison they don’t have as much peppers on the dish but instead more pickled onion and I tell you they were extremely generous with the pickled onion! It was all over my plate so much that it even makes up for the forgotten bacon. 3 of us ordered this dish and only one of us got bacon in our dish so that was disappointing. The things I enjoyed most about the dish was the basil ‘infused’? green tomatoes and the flavour of the relish with the peppers and onions. It’s a huge meal and it comes with two pieces of toast (which I just couldn’t finish). The only downside was that the chorizo was quite oily. Blueberry & ricotta hotcakes with berries, maple syrup, seeds & cream // $21.00 Continue reading →
It was time for a brunch catch up with the bestie and we decided to check out this place! There’s a menu uploaded onto Zomato which includes both breakfast and lunch.
Love the coffee art at Percy’s Aeroplane Cafe!
First time visiting Scarvelli Cafe and it was a delight! I liked the overall presentation of the cafe, the simple decoration of flowers on the table and how spacious it is! There is also an outside seating area which fits heaps more people (larger groups). Apart from their regular menu they also have salads, muffins and baguette type of foods at the counter area.
The menu! I was tossing up between the Good life bowl, Dukkah Eggs, Wood Fired Salmon, Open Omelette and the Chilli Eggs & Ham – hahaha, too many choices meaning I’ll be back!

Chilli Eggs & Ham // $16.50
Boyfriend said it was delicious :) He really liked the presentation – the eggs reminded him of ying/yang. Wood fired Salmon // $17
This was my dish! It was so delicious. One of my favourite breakfast dishes I’ve had no joke. I thought everything complimented each other really well – I liked the citrus flavours (I think from the mustard salsa and avo) against the crispy polenta. #justyum. I wouldn’t say I was full afterwards though, but it was a comfortable stomach.
The waiters were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I came on a rainy day too. The only downside was that it did take awhile for the food to come out after our orders were placed. The food was worth it though! I’ll be back :)
